ABOUT SLING FENDERS

REDUCED RISK OF ACCIDENTAL IGNITION

Sling Fenders are commonly used in Oil Tanker Ships since they reduce to 0 the risk of sparks and an accidental ignition. This is because they do not have the protection layer made of chains and tires, and thus, reducing friction against metal. This change also means a potentially lower lifespan, and a higher sensitivity against debris.

SIMILARITIES WITH THE YOKOHAMA STYLE TYPE

Sling Fenders have the same mechanical properties as a Yokohama style Pneumatic Fender. They both have the same Energy Absorption and the same Reaction Force. The main difference between the two types would be the weight, since the layer of tires and chains is particularly heavy. Despite that, the rubber body of the fenders is identical.
