FOAM FENDER CHARACTERISTICS

THE UNSINKABLE FENDERS

One of the main reasons why Foam Filled Fenders are very attractive to our customers is because they are basically unsinkable. Unlike pneumatic fenders, foam fenders don't rely on air to float. Due to this, even when the fender suffers severe damage it will still be able to float thanks to it's EVA foam interior. Because of these reasons, Foam Fenders float, they are buoyant.

ENERGY ABSORPTION & REACTION FORCE

The mechanical properties of EVA foam allow the Foam Filled Fenders to have an extremely high energy absorption and reaction force. It's ratio of GEA and RF compared to diameter is also much higher than the one of any pneumatic fender. For example, a pneumatic fender of 1200 x 2000 mm would absorve 63 kNm while the foam fender would absorve 93 kNm of energy.

EVA FOAM FILLED & RIGID CORE

All of our Foam Fenders are filled with EVA foam and have a rigid rod core, allowing efficient compression. This is true to all the standard sizes that we supply:

300 x 500, 500 x 1000, 600 x 1200, 700 x 1500, 1000 x 2000, 1200 x 2000, 1500 x 3000, 1700 x 3000, 2000 x 3500, 2500 x 4000, and 3300 x 6000 mm Foam Filled Fenders.

SHIP TO SHIP

Due to the fact that Foam Fenders are buoyant and more damage resistant, being unsinkable makes them very attractive for Ship to Ship operations. Not only that, but their Non-Marking properties of their outer polyurethane layer makes them suitable for navy ships and vessels.

SHIP TO SHORE

The long service life of Foam Filled Fenders, combined with the easier reparation of external damage, makes this type of fender ideal for ship to shore operations. Moreover, their higher GEA and RF to size ratio makes them more versatile, and fit a wider range of deck types and sizes.

OIL & GAS FENDERS

Foam Filled Fenders follow the strict regulations and guidelines for the use in Oil & Gas industry. They outer polyurethane skin makes them significantly more chemical and hazard resistant, such as for example in petroleum leakages. This combined with adaptability makes them useful.
