Submarine Fenders are also often known as Hydro Pneumatic Fenders. This is due to the fact that this specialized type of fender is filled with both air and water. The water helps it laying down and vertically in the sea, for protecting submarines.
While submarines can use regular pneumatic fenders, they need to be extremely large. Submarine fenders do the same work with less than half the size.
Submarine Fenders can also come with a removable chain and tires net, in order to be converted into a regular Yokohama style Fender.
There are four important industry standard sizes of hydro-pneumatic fenders, also known as submarine fenders or u-boat fenders. These sizes are 2000 x 4000 mm, the most important one; 2000 x 6000, 2500 x 5500 and 3300 x 6500.
